Installation Overview
- Determine Door Handing & Prepare Door:Verify the handing of the door (LHRB or RHRB). Prepare the face of the lock stile and hinge stile according to the standard template details.
- Insert Concealed Vertical Rods:Insert the upper and lower concealed vertical rod assemblies into the lock stile. Secure the center chassis assembly using the designated mounting studs.
- Adjust Rod Length & Install Latches:Adjust the length of the top and bottom Actuating Bolts by turning them in or out. When the Push Bar is fully depressed and Dogged, the Actuating Bolts should be slightly recessed from flush with the top and bottom of the door. Install the top and bottom Bolt Guides.
NOTE: Large Bevel of Actuating Bolts must be inside and outside of stile. - Measure & Cut Panic Device Length:Measure the distance from the inside face of the lock stile to the inside face of the hinge stile. Cut the flat touch bar device to the correct required length.
- Position & Mount Latch Device Body:Position the main touch bar assembly over the center chassis mounting studs. Align the hinge-side end of the device, ensure the body is perfectly level, and secure it firmly to the door stiles.
- Drill & Secure Hinge-Side End:Using the end of the push rail chassis as a template, drill and tap the required holes into the hinge stile. Fasten the end mechanism securely using the provided machine screws.
- Attach Mechanism Covers:Place the front head cover and the rear end cover over their respective mechanism ends. Secure them tightly in place using the provided self-tapping metal screws.
- Install Strikes & Threshold Plugs:Mount the header strike at the top frame and the threshold strike/plug at the bottom floor.
- Final Test:Test the panic device operation to ensure the rods and actuating bolts retract smoothly. To set dogging, press the touch bar and turn the flathead screwdriver 45 degrees clockwise.
Operating Instructions
- To Unlock Door Using Cylinder Key:
Insert the key and turn approximately 1/4 turn counterclockwise to retract the latches and open the door. Return the key to the center position to remove. - Dogging Using Cylinder Key:
Open the door, fully depress Push Bar and hold, turn the Key Clockwise approximately 45°, return Key to center and remove. - To Release Cylinder Key Dogging:
Turn Key Counterclockwise approximately 45°, return Key to center and remove. - Dogging Using Flat-Head Screwdriver:
Fully depress the touch bar and hold. Insert a standard flat-head screwdriver into the dogging hole located on the end cap. Turn the screwdriver clockwise approximately 45 degrees to dog the device in the hold-open position. - To Release Dogging:
Depress the touch bar and hold. Insert the flat-head screwdriver into the dogging hole and turn counterclockwise approximately 45 degrees. The touch bar will be released, and the rods will re-engage for secure locking.

Buying Considerations
- Door Stile Width Verification: Ensure the vertical door stile meets the minimum width requirement of 1-3/4”. This ensures sufficient space for mounting the center chassis and concealed vertical rod mechanisms within the door profile.
- Exterior Access Configuration: The exterior trim is available in Entrance function to ensure keyed control for secure access. Additionally, the system offers excellent flexibility, allowing you to choose between the trim assembly or a clean Cylinder Only setup to suit your specific aesthetic and security needs.
- Architectural Finish Matching: Coordinate the device aesthetics with your storefront design and existing hardware. The device is available in industry-standard premium finishes: Dark Bronze and Aluminum.
- Door Height & Extension Rod Assessment: Check the standard clearance of your opening. For oversized or taller doors, determine if optional extension rods are required to ensure the top actuating bolt reaches the header strike properly.
